At Future Super we do financial services with a difference. Our purpose is to help Australians to use their savings to create a fairer, brighter, renewable energy powered future. In the last 3 years we have helped thousands of Australians move over $450 million dollars out of investments exposed to fossil fuels, cruel animal practices and the mandatory detention of refugees. At the same time, we’re investing tens of millions in new solar farms, clean tech start-ups and other exciting investments that help make our planet a safer, cleaner, fairer place to live.
Future Super is growing quickly and we’re looking for a talented, hardworking, energetic leader to join our senior team.
Leading a small tech team which you’ll help us build, your role will be to drive our next stage of growth, with member experience and technology that helps us scale up our growth rate (and therefore our impact) your top priorities.
You’ll have responsibility for rapidly evolving our existing in-house tech stack, developing the company’s strategy for using new and emerging technology that helps us grow faster and improve the experience of our members, ensuring our resources are used efficiently, profitably and securely, and evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure.
At the same time, you’ll get your hands dirty and get stuff done! We’re in high growth start-up mode (almost 50% growth year-on-year), so everyone at Future Super has to dig in to make things happen.
Your day to day
You’ll be a senior leader within our team, applying and contributing to our values in all of your interactions with our team, our members and our partner companies.
■ You’ll develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with our business goals, including greenfield tech projects like our member app
■ You’ll refine and redefine the interfaces in our member portal and engagement hub (core CRM) to keep our members engaged and our customer service team running smoothly
■ You’ll help our marketing team measure success through the member on-boarding process as they design, break and reinvent the way people join our fund
■ You’ll ensure our system infrastructure is functional and efficient, and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
■ You’ll build quality assurance and data protection processes
■ You’ll monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess tech performance
■ You’ll manage a small but growing team, and a development agency to support execution
What we’re looking for
■ Passion for helping people and the planet and for using technology to make it happen, and a curiosity about ethical investment and superannuation
■ Ability to manage technical development projects using agile methodologies, and excellent communication and engagement with non-technical stakeholders
■ Strong attention to detail when it comes to delivering an excellent user experience for our members and team who interact with our systems
■ Aptitude for strategic thinking, business acumen, and curiosity for current trends in technology
■ Some experience managing technical people (regardless of team size) will be highly regarded. You do NOT need to have previous CTO experience – this is a great role for someone looking to develop their leadership ability (but equally a really great role for someone who has been a CTO before and is looking for the next challenge)
■ Technical specifications:
○ front-end technologies across web and mobile – Angular, React.js (and of course HTML5, CSS/SASS, jQuery)
○ LAMP stack, in particular frameworks such as Laravel, and integrating and building APIs
○ server administration (i.e. comfort using a command line/bash terminal, experience using cPanel or similar)
○ code repositories (subversion/git) and maintaining documentation.
