Job Overview

Who we are
Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is a social purpose organisation that works with partners to improve the lives of people in need in Australia by helping businesses, governments and philanthropists to be more effective funders and social purpose organisations to be more effective at delivering services. SVA is the leading Venture Philanthropy organisation in Australia and has pioneered this approach since 2002. To date we have partnered with funders to better invest more than $50 million of funding and provide more effective support to over 88 social ventures. These ventures are innovative, social purpose organisations who have the capacity to grow and scale their impact to improve the lives of those living in disadvantaged circumstances across Australia.

The position
SVA’s Venture Philanthropy team supports social purpose organisations to enhance their knowledge and to prove and improve their impact around alleviating disadvantage in Australia. To achieve this, the team works to identify potential organisations that align to SVA’Ds strategy and provides selected organisations with a tailored package of support that includes funding, hands-on capacity building, network connections and support with measuring and reporting evidence. The Director, Venture Philanthropy is responsible for leading and developing the Venture Philanthropy team and portfolio of ventures, which includes designing and delivering SVA’s tailored venture philanthropy support, as well as developing and nurturing SVA’s funder relationships. This role represents an exciting blend of both hands-on team management and venture support on the one hand, with strategy, analysis and thought leadership on the other.
