About Social Traders
Since 2008, Social Traders has been a pioneer in the development of Australia’s social enterprise sector.
We help social enterprises grow by connecting them to market opportunities with business and government buyers. To date, we have worked with more than 4,000 social enterprises – across different stages of maturity.
In 2017, we made the strategic decision to focus on unlocking the significant potential of Australia’s $600 billion social enterprise procurement market. We believe this represents the greatest untapped opportunity to generate positive, sustainable social impact and change.
Having reached our target of facilitating $105 million in procurement spend two years ahead of schedule, we’ve decided to significantly scale our ambitions in the next 5 years.
To realise this evolving and exciting opportunity, Social Traders is hiring several key roles in the organisation to drive momentum. Is this opportunity for you?
This Head of Marketing & Partnerships position is perfect for someone looking to create significant impact. It’s a senior leadership role within Social Traders, and reports directly to the Managing Director. It plays a critical role in supporting the ongoing planning and implementation of the organisation’s strategy.
The Head of Marketing & Partnerships is responsible for a team of up to three people, which you will hire in the first few months to ensure appropriate resourcing to meet strategic organisational requirements. This role is also supported by a small roster of external agencies, including a digital/web agency, PR agency and graphic design freelancer. It is also a hands-on role. We are a for purpose organisation and are all very active in the day-to-day operations, collaborating as a team.
Together you and your team are responsible for two key areas of our organisation:
… with the following objectives for each:
Growth Marketing, Communications and Events
Partnerships strategy and development
This is a senior leadership role in an exciting organisation determined to make a substantive and lasting social impact in our communities.
The successful candidate will be an experienced marketer, with significant business to business experience and ideally stakeholder engagement or partnerships growth. Given the broad set of responsibilities for this role, we are open to seeing different profiles and experiences – if you are stronger in one area than another, we will build your team accordingly.
You are a proactive strategic thinker, comfortable working with ambiguity, adapt at building new capabilities and comfortable with experimentation. Collaboration is second nature to you – and is your preferred way of operating.
While you may have worked with big budgets and teams in the past, you are not fazed by limited resources typical of the not for profit sector. In fact, you relish the opportunity. Not for profit or social enterprise experience is not essential, but a passion and commitment to supporting positive social impact is. A desire to be active and ‘on the tools’ as well as a manager of a team, is really important too.
Requirements for this role
Note, you do not need to have strong experience or skills in all of these areas, since we will build the team to bring in additional capabilities. In your application, please tell us about the areas you are stronger in or would need more support in.
